Create or Edit Disciplines

Editing Discipline Names

Often you will want to use different names to describe the disciplines in a project.  For example, some projects prefer to refer to the consultant/contractor company names such as "WGE Engineers" instead of the generic headings such as "Mechanical Consultant".

To do this simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Project hompage and click on the "edit" button to the right of the Discipline that you want to re-name.
  2. Enter the new name for that Discipline and click the Submit button.  (Don't touch the "Approver" drop-down menu.)

Note: If you ever want to re-instate the default template-based naming for a particular discipline then simply edit the Discipline again and completely delete the discipline name.  This will revert the Discipline name back to the original naming convention.

Creating a new Discipline

If you want to create a document in the tracker which is the responsibility of a new Discipline that is not in the default drop-down list then you first need to create that discipline in your Project.  To do this:

  1. Click the "+" sign next to the "Discipline" heading on your Project homepage.
  2. Enter the new Discipline name.

The discipline should now be added to your project and you will see it in the Discipline list with "0" docs responsible.  Go into the tracker and add/edit documents to add new responsibilities for this new discipline.
